Africa/African Diaspora Studies. The Department of Africana Studies at Brooklyn College of the City University of New York seeks to appoint an historian of the African Diaspora at the rank of assistant professor in fall 2013. The successful candidate will specialize in the areas of African History and people of African descent in the Americas (United States, Caribbean and Latin America) and should be able to teach and develop chronological as well as thematic advanced undergraduate and graduate courses in both fields, particularly in her/his areas of interest. This is a joint line with the Department of History and it is expected that the candidate will develop and teach upper level undergraduate and graduate courses in that department. Participation in the core curriculum is expected. In addition, the successful candidate should be interested in study abroad to Africa, the Caribbean, and/or Latin America.
Specialty is open, but the department, in cooperation with other units at the college, is interested in cross-cultural and interdisciplinary research.
