Ladies and gentlemen,
The winner is:
The winner is:
While Nigerian film makers continue to produce low class films, their Kenyan counterparts have produced an Academy Award-caliber movie:
For the first time, Kenya has a film in the hunt for an Academy Award for best foreign language film. Nairobi Half Life chronicles a young man's misbegotten migration from a rural village to the crime-ridden capital. The surprise hit film is helping Kenyans better understand Nairobi's crime culture.
1. Has to do with how to improve Kenya, not some superficial bad clone of America
2. Kenyans actually went to see it at movie theaters, not for educated professionals to be making pirated copies and bragging about it
3. Took some thought, time and money to make, not a $10K predictable juju slapstick or agaracha skin made in some oppressor's living room
Kudos to our Kenyan and other African brothers and sisters as they stopped waiting for Nigeria to get its acts together.

My brother,
While I join you in giving honour to whom it's due and saying kudos to the Kenyans, I also want to point out that things will not improve if we all sit tight over here and do nothing about improving the quality of what we see in Nigeria.
How? Each Nigerian professional should start making trips home to go and teach, share and mentor. We don't even have to travel home these days, everything can be done online. We need to share our various skills and expertise with our people back home--transfer technology. The government wanted to do that through NIDO but we can do it regardless. Just my thoughts.
One more thing... It is a shame that Nigerians living abroad go to their local ethnic stores and buy pirated copies of movies, not because they cannot afford it, but because we inadvertently show we see no true value in supporting the craft. Shame, shame, shame. Yes, let's go there!
Have an excellent day!
