Chidi Anthony Opara, the poet,
Why isn't your "Sunday Morning in Sodom" in PoemHunter?
http://www.poemhunter.com/chidi-anthony-opara/poems/
You've done it again! How come you are one helluva poet who always
gets me to laugh uproariously – despite my not having imbibed some
Owerri gogoro? I think that it's because like Fela , you capture some
essential truth - not fantasy - as communicated in the vernacular -
I recognise it - you've communicated – you've hit home and that's why
I'm still in stitches....
"Bouncing boobs,
Rounded buttocks"
Even the pious Pius must be chuckling to himself in French or Yoruba
- maybe Mwalimu Harrow too, since he has a sense of huma....
I notice that you've recycled the
" protruding bellies"
( a recurring theme) those senior service bellies that usually occupy
the front pews.:
"Their pot bellies protrude.
Large tainted tithe and offerings
Protrude from their large pockets."
Chidi, you are gradually becoming famous a author is famous when
people start quoting him – it's no point in writing just for writing's
sake books un-read, merely collecting more dust of ages -
- this is the second time that I've been quoting you in a blog
piece... - this time with reference to your illustrious definition
of the word "oxymoron"
When I saw the title of Pius Adesanmi's piece ( very funny) I expected
some
" beaded bubbles winking at the brim" or Ken the wicked critic
winking from within ( the bottle)
Let's just be a little patient, you ain't seen anything yet...
Cheers!
Sincerely yrs,.
Cornelius
