Just a little about Mr. Soyinka's article about the Nigerian
legislators' proposals set to tackle the human issue of homosexuality
and its implications in Nigeria's society. I know that the Rabbinate
objected to a gay pride festival in Jerusalem - that's all that I
know. About such a festival taking place in Lagos or Abuja or Boko
Haram territory would be a different matter altogether - although the
Lord's commands in the Bible and what Allah says in the Quran has far-
reaching consequences on the behaviour of people in far away places
like Nigeria....

Of course, my purpose in writing this or even a piece of poetry could
be very different from your reasons or reasons for paying any kind of
attention whatsoever. Nor does a first paragraph,,line or verse set
the tone or standard of what to expect and this is so whether your
appetite or mine is whet or your throat is feeling parched or merely
dry and anticipating some liquor as succor or even salve-ation:
To be or not to be ? To delete - be-little?
The first paragraph ( like the first world war) :followed by a second
paragraph :
The eternal question for some, if not for many is : "What did I do to
be so black and blue?"
But first, even before we get to answering a possible Langston Hughes
or James Baldwin question, namely,"What did I do to be so black and
gay?", with reference to Wole Soyinka's usually potent and often
compelling diction as in "Legislative Zealotry",we had better get the
tenor of that word right and what is implied in zealotry …
