USA Africa Dialogue Series - Re: [nigerianbiomedicalandlifescientists] DEGREE PROJECTS FOR SALE IN NIGERIA!!!

Just seeing this on the site-

'We have professional writers who are willing and ready to write your project from chapter one to chapter five for the following courses:

B.Sc Accounting and Finance = N30,000

HND Accounting and Finance = N20,000

OND Accounting and Finance = N10,000

BSC Electrical Electronics Engineering =N 20,000

HND Electrical Electronics Engineering = N15,000

OND Electrical Electronics Engineering = N10,000

Call 08169533305 for more information and how to submit the topic'

Very sad.

Can this entrepreneur  not be advised on how to refine this business model out of the illegal?

I have a problem with the idea of dismissing this project as pure invitation to cheat.

I can see the potential, perhaps the outright certainty  of  abuse, but something very, very vital is happening here which it would be most wise to watch.

The higher education book business in Africa has gained massive potential particularly after importation from the publication centres in the West became difficult  and this huge market seems to be underserved from my experience in Nigeria 10 years ago.

If the situation is still the same, there is really good money to be made from academic, particularly textbook publication.

The educational possibilities of that are incalculable.

I am deeply impressed by the ingenuity, drive and sheer acumen of this initiative. It could contribute a catalytic effect to academic book publishing in Nigeria.

Is there not a critical need for a vigorous indigenous academic writing and publishing industry?

The multiplier effect of that would be stupendous over time.

Now, I am not thinking the issues through as clearly as I should since the business model being employed is a minefield, liable to misuse, or even shaped in a way that could be seen as inviting  cheating, even though the site stipulates that the client must not use their materials verbatim but as study guides.

Is it not possible to discuss with this entrepreneur the dangers of his model and suggest how to refine it to defeat such use?

I almost wish I could do something similar but with more careful safeguards.

thanks

DEGREE PROJECTS FOR SALE IN NIGERIA!!!

Dear all,

Uhmmm this is unbelievable! I can now agree that everything is possible in Nigeria! Two friends in Nottingham alerted me on these 2 powerful Nigerian websites that sell degree projects from HND to PhD levels in almost all specialties; topics and sample chapters were even provided and if you think a topic suits you what you just need to do is to make a payment and send them a scanned copy of your teller and you will receive a complete project ready for printing, binding and onward submission to the university where you are registered. My only question is what is the role of the institutional supervisor(s) then? May God save us in falling prey to these monsters! Here are the 2 websites for your perusal and commenting:

Kindest regards,

Aminu.
