(Poem By: Chidi Anthony Opara)
With much noise
We nudge what we name
New year into our minds
And nudge what we name
Old year out of our minds.
Fireworks
From fighters of the faiths
Make our freedoms feeble,
Yet
We mouth the mantra
Haaappy neeew yeeear.
We go back into the circle
Where
Prosperous pastors prophesy
Prosperity for the masses
Impoverished
And massage the pubic parts
Of people in power,
Power
Procured from the pool of immorality,
Yet
We mouth the mantra
Haaappy neeew yeeear.
Our destiny
Slides down the slope,
Yet
We smile,
We mouth the mantra
Haaappy neeew yeeear.
