this is a very striking picture, quite different from what we've seen so
far. i would love to hear gloria's views on this now. it depicts the
rebellion as being not simply a function of libyan arms flowing into
tuareg rebellions in the north, but malian troops, perhaps tuareg,
defecting, thus leading to the success of the rebellion. the rebellious
tuareg troops were trained and armed by the u.s.!
i suggest anyone interested in what's happening in mali read this piece.
it changes the picture pretty radically, and elucidates more than ever
