(Poem By: Chidi Anthony Opara)
In this hour
When the angel
Filled
The womb of the virgin
With angelic fluid
And the virgin,
Still a virgin bore a child,
Mandate
Made mad by power
Moans
Atop a whore
Spreadeagled.
The state is stuffed
Inside the bag of abandonment.
We have stepped
Into another beginning.
The warnings
Of wisdom are still unheeded,
The madness of mandate
We still ignore.
Mandate
Made mad by power
Moans
Atop a whore
Spreadeagled.
This beginning is set
To step
Into the portal of past
And bid us bye forever.
By then
We will be beyond salvation.
The umbilical cords
Of our newborns
Will be buried in foreign lands.
To the gods of other lands
We will offer sacrifices.
We will pour libations
To the ancestors
Of those who own us,
Our ancestors will agonize.
Mandate
Made mad by power
Moans
Atop a whore
Spreadeagled.
