White House budget office puts a number on its furloughs
By Josh Hicks ,
The White House budget office's sequester furloughs will affect nearly 500 employees, according to a blog item from Politico.
The Office of Management and Budget announced last week that it would place its personnel on unpaid leave for 10 days between April 21 and early September, but the agency did not specify how many workers the furloughs would affect.
Politico reported that an administration official placed the number at 480 employees.
The budget office last week joined a growing list of federal agencies sending out official furlough notices or warnings of potential furloughs due to the government-wide spending cuts that took effect on March 1.
Agencies must provide 30 days notice before placing employees on unpaid leave.
