"It is true that some great writers are passed over for the prize. But few disagree that those who win deserve the accolades. The other Nigerian I expectedto win was Christopher Okigbo, who was tragically lapped up by the Civil War. Achebe was a good story teller, so was my grandmother."i wonder how sam knows his grandmother was a good storyteller. and if it is the few who are able to discern true literary merit, as he proclaims earlier in this posting, then who is to say that those same few are wrong when they disagree over the merits of noble prize winners?
what i really want to know is, if his grandmother is so good, why hasn't she won the noble prize?
