'Maybe, my worry is how long it took for the bodies to be given to the respective families and, indeed, in what state they were when handed over!'
To get an insight on this, you may see Siolun's work which discusses the coup in detail

--Dear All:
I stand corrected on the ironsi-Fajuyi situation, as I am told by a knowledgeable source that the remains of the two famous soldiers were eventually given proper (or even hero's) burials in their hometowns (i.e. in Edo-Ekiti for Colonel Fajuyi; and in Igboland for General ironsi). Maybe, my worry is how long it took for the bodies to be given to the respective families and, indeed, in what state they were when handed over! Sorry for the unintentional factual error with respect to the aftermath of the assassination of the two military leaders in July 1966!
