In April 2009, Nigeria's President Yar'Adua said, "Restoring respect for the rule of law is honestly one thing I would want to be remembered for." Click here, to read about whether Yar'Adua's dream will be buried with the victims of the latest violence in Nigeria, and to see some of the satellite photos (from Human Rights Watch) of houses destroyed by the military operation.
I also have a new article, "Sectarian Rebellions in Post-Transition Nigeria Compared," forthcoming in the Journal of Intervention and Statebuilding. It compares and contrasts Nigeria's recent northern violence with salient features of the Niger Delta rebellions. The publisher, Taylor & Francis, has generously made available 50 free downloads.
