(Poem By Chidi Anthony Opara)
The four,
Framed for felony
And pronounced felons
By the courts of the kangaroos,
The four,
Children
Of the victims of the state
Stood on wobbling legs
Starring into the void,
The hangman
Was yet to appear.
The kingdom of Bani
Bubbled with festivity,
The palace beamed.
His royal majesty
The Obo of Bani
Beaming,
Celebrated nine decades
Of sojourn on earth.
Chants
Of "long live the Obo" filled the air.
Palace emissary arrived
And conferred with the hangman.
The hangman appeared,
The four
Were forced to the gallows.
To each
Palace emissary whispered;
"You will be hanged today
Because it is Obo's birthday".
