Dear All:
A few days ago, my attention was drawn by an intellectual mentor in the Sociology Department of Harvard University about Sir Toyin Falola's latest published book, which may make some of us (on the list-serve) curiously ask: Which book, now? The mentor, an expert on comparative slavery, described the new book as being "very formidable, and very well done!"
Well, the newest published book in Sir Toyin's literary or publishing arsenal is THE AFRICAN DIASPORA: SLAVERY, MODERNITY, AND GLOBALIZATION (Rochester University Press, 2013). Already, it is very clear from the copy I promptly obtained that the 418-page tome (with wonderful pictorial illustrations and a colorful cover) will be great for those of us who teach courses dealing with slavery and the slave trade in diaspora/diasporic contexts.
Congratulations, Sir Toyin, on this wonderful book that many of us can use in our classrooms!
A.B. Assensoh.
