I watched this series on Al-Jazeera and learned lot thereby.
This awesome documentary of French colonial and post-colonial history will be winning many prizes. It features so many behind the scenes and now unclassified insights, the kind of stuff researchers and people like Mbembe don't often have access to. The same is true of the UK-Africa connection.... the genesis of this and that coup...sometimes truth is a lot stranger than armchair fiction and more often than not, the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth is missing in action, e.g., about "Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction". The problem is sometimes exacerbated by some guys who don't know or know only a little, pretending or trying to convince other ignoramuses that they know - and to know p, p must be true....
"This series explores the dark and dramatic history of France's relationships with its former African colonies."
"Dr Lansine Kaba, a leading historian on Africa, discusses the status of French-African relations today."
