| Hello, hello: The Official Prince George's County, Maryland African Heritage Month Proclamation Ceremonies will take place at the African Heritage Month's Imagine and Benevolence Banquet Awards on Saturday September 28, 2013 at 7:30PM at the Prince George's County Ballroom in Landover, Maryland. This third milestone highlights the presence and contributions of Continental Africans in the jurisdictions with the greatest numbers of Continental Africans: Prince George's County, Montgomery County and the District of Columbia. All three jurisdictions now recognize September as the African Heritage Month. A Heritage Month goes through congressional sponsorship and the eventual proclamation by the sitting President of the United States. This process has been initiated. Please see the histories of the Heritage Months of other demographic populations (below) after this mail. The philanthropic cause for the African Heritage Month's Imagine and Benevolence Banquet Awards is the establishment of Community Health Navigators in the three jurisdictions in order to facilitate outreach education on health literacy, the enrollment of residents in the Affordable Care Act "Obamacare" and to assist residents, especially the hard-to-reach population, in gaining access to preventive health care. The Community Health Navigator is culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate, and linguistically specific. The Hispanics in Montgomery County kicked off their Heritage Month with the County Executive Hispanic Gala and the cause: Dream Act that benefits college-bound Latino youths.
