The Guardian of Sunday September 1, 2013 reported the "break up" of the PDP, the frontline political party in Nigeria since 1999.
Most of those who started the PDP were responsible for the break up. However, but not in good faith.
The case for the break up was made around many factors including, frustration, anger, and disappointment. No meaningful solutions to the political stalemate were put forward. It then implies that the group may be more confused than the previous.
The leader of the break up group is Alhaji Abubakar Atiku the Vice President of Nigeria during Olusegun Obasanjo"s Presidency (PDP) 1999 to 2003.Both disagreed. Today, Atiku, Amaechi and six Governors from the North are the engines behind the PDP split.
It is a fact of life that most people do not learn from the past. Although Alhaji Abubakar Atiku was a teenager in 1962 during the Action Group crisis, he has the right to know the political history of Nigeria and the development of party politics. If he did, I think he should not involve in breaking up the PDP because any form of break up has never favored the Nigerian people and its political stability.
It looks as if we are entering the 2014 political debate with problems hanging on our sleeves that solutions may be tough to find and the consequences may be stiffer. I will like to appeal to Atiku and others that politics should not be viewed as a do or die business but only a business of the unique voice of the people. It is not ideal to attempt to impose a will on the party. But learn to persuade your party to work in harmony. Atiku, you are not doing enough as a one time leader of Nigeria.
