Some may say they are K/Congolese, I suppose in terms of the Kongo Empire that encompassed
the region now called Congo, Angola and environs. But that may be a stretch.

BTW, Gloria, I think it is more accurate to say the peoples of the Congo
basin, which also includes Angola. They gave, in major part, the world
of these musics and dances (there are other influences, of course). They
are not "congolese" in the modern nation state sense, of the DRC and CDC.
