You will find that, based on these 61 universities:

1.  total enrollment in the universities is 1,252,913 in 2013, less than the number of students (1,503,931) that sat for exams to get into universities that same year.

2.  average enrollment per university is 20,540 students, with 28 universities having greater population than this average.  Range of population is 212 to 90,885.   [Largest size is 90,885 (Lagos State University, Ojo).  Five universities have less than 1000 students:  Ondo State University, Okitipupa (212), Plateau State University, Bokkos (328), Bauchi State University, Gadau (445), FUPRE, Effurun (682),   and Akwa Ibom State University, Ikot Akpaden (837)]

3.  average student/teaching staff ratio is 33:1.

4.  average non-teaching staff to teaching staff ratio is 2:1.

5.  For comparison, I present below information on the US - general information on college education, as well as specific information on some universities.  There are 629  public four-year institutions in the US (average of  13 per state) and 1845 private universities. Average enrollment of four-year public universities in the US is almost 11,000. Average enrollment in the ten top universities chosen is 25,000, and student/teaching staff ratio is 11.
