Dear All,
The promise of President Jonathan to privatize the power sector is fulfilled and the world awaits the magic wand that will follow to make Nigeria an industrial giant in Africa.
I honestly give kudos to Mr. President on this giant stride. The power sector can never be the same again.
The public must get ready for incremental tariff because it is not business as usual. You may no longer see NEPA boys on the poles trying to disconnect defaulters. The era of bribing anyone to get connected is probably over.
Nigerians have been told that pretty soon Government will no longer subsidize power sector.
Nigerians must get set to be exploited like GSM providers when they first started until the indigenous provider joined with reduced tariff which brought the exploitation to the tolerable level we are today. Nigerians cannot forget how MTN and ECONET ripped their users off. I hope the new owners will not follow their path.
Nigerians want the best and they are ready to pay for it insofar it is proportionate to the service.
On this note I congratulate Mr. President and the National Assembly for making the handover possible.
To the new owners, let me remind you that Nigerians are not always patient. You just have to perform if you want their cooperation.
Segun Ogungbemi.
