RE: USA Africa Dialogue Series - Re - STAR ESSAY - We are Boko Haram (by Aliyu Tilde)

On the anniversary of the triumph of the Nigerian peoples Will against dictatorship, tyranny and oppression; and against the current backdrop of terrorists rampaging the countryside and carrying innocent women into captivity, this publication preview of Moremi The Courage of Motherhood reminds us that our ancestors have been here before and restates the efforts of valiant women in delivering their compatriots from an uncertain future...

Subject: USA Africa Dialogue Series - Re - STAR ESSAY - We are Boko Haram (by Aliyu Tilde)

This is only serious and not to be taken with any sugar or sweet salt.

Dr. Tilde always knows what he’s talking about and so for once - in talking about the Boko Haram (condemnations etc) it’s not a case of fools dive in (to the crocodile pool) where angels fear to wade or a mere statutory case of “How to write about Africa” or – as is the wont of so many experts who have never  set foot in a mosque or in Boko Haram territory  or even been near Northern Nigeria,  it's not a mere matter of using their long distance drone mind mentality/ imagination to fill in the missing pieces of  reality with some of their own morbid precognitions and fantasies, reporting for CNN , NBC, the Jerusalem Post and the like...

Here’s some more gruesome, deadly news that did not make the international headlines:

Boko Haram Kills Emir Of Gwoza

Following any lines of definition, Boko Haram has evolved into more of a terrorist group since that star essay and at the rate they are going it should not surprise you that we could all wake up one morning to hear that just as ISIS has taken Mosul and are urging their men to march on and take the capital Baghdad, so too Boko Haram could increase their notoriety and fame by one fine day marching on Abuja  to raise the flag of the  Northern Caliphate of Nigeria there and to march on bombing and destroying churches and anything else that stands in their way, looting, stealing schoolgirls, daughters, wives, kuffar, as they march  to Owerri , Enugu, Onitsha, Port Harcourt and my old hideout in Yenagoa. This is not impossible, especially at a time when we could all be distracted  or otherwise engaged in watching the world cup on TV. In Iraq, Prime Minister Maliki has secretly requested that Uncle Sam come in big to the rescue, with the assistance of  the US Air force and some drones to bomb the ISIS rebels back to the stone age. It looks like the humble beginning of the next great Sunni-Shia war in the region, I suspect, with all the old players who backed Saddam against Iran, once again showing their true colours.

Let’s hope that it doesn’t soon get to the point where our Goodluck Jonathan makes the same urgent appeal to Uncle Sam, former colonial master UK, France and Israel to assist with the bombing of Boko Haram out of existence.

For enlightenment about the ever-evolving complexity of Northern Nigeria’s internal relations and the North’s often problematic relations with the rest of the country – whether under the umbrella of the late Umaru Yar'adua or Rivers man Goodluck Jonathan,  Dr. Aliyu Tilde’s regular  discourses have been of tremendous value – I’m judicious in my choices and  that’s why I am one of his ardent member of Dr. Aliyu Tilde Fans Group

But, although Dr. Tilde is steeped in the history, politics and religious culture of the North, being less than omniscient , he does not have a monopoly on all truth or even half truths ( like the blind men and the elephant) – or a monopoly of insights into the hearts of men – so whatever he says or has said – can be complemented, and here too, Femi Owolade’s Boko Haram: How a Militant Islamist Group Emerged in Nigeria and Jideofor Adibe  complements Dr. Tilde’s  genesis story in throwing more light on the mystery  of their origins in his Explaining the Emergence of Boko Haram

In the meantime the preachers should be preaching from the minbar and pulpit, that the Almighty made man in His own image and likeness, breathed into the nostrils of man and he became a living soul, each and every one...

Sincerely,

We Sweden
