Today's 2014 World up game between Brazil and Germany is of interest in many dimensions. Brazil top the world list in 1958,1962, 1970, 1994 and 2002 and Germany did likewise three times. The two top world leaders of soccer met today, July 8, 2014 for the semi final competition and Germany kept Brazil, the leader of soccer quiet. We may not know exactly the problems but Brazil lost control during the early part of the first half which cost them 5 goals to nothing. During the second half, Brazil started well but with little courage. Germany had 2 more goals while Brazil managed to score one goal. The final result was Brazil One goal and Germany Seven. The possibility is to have 2014 world cup go to Europe.
Well what lesson can we learn from the world cup. My mind considers endurance. ALL COUNTRIES REPRESENTED at the world cup in Brazil, solved their domestic issues in close doors but the players from Nigeria took several days to debate among themselves the question of remuneration. Instead of finding out why they failed, nearly half of the players resigned before returning to Nigeria.
I think we must imbibe the spirit of endurance, commitment, sportsmanship, and nationalism in all we do. Although all the players from African countries dropped out very early but a time will come when a country in Africa will take the World Home.
Thank you and pray for African Soccer Players,
