Friends:

I awake this morning in Norwich, Vermont, USA, to take part in the 50th Reunion of the A Better Chance program started at Dartmouth College to prepare youths from disadvantaged circumstances for a university education. The previous night I slept in Abuja where the last of three Roundtables on Pathways from the Nigerian Predicament had been held. I also attended in Abuja the 70th session of the Village Square for the Chibok girls abducted 85 days previously while seeking an educational pathway out of their highly disadvantaged circumstances.

Before the discussions today of what is needed to meet the challenge of America's underserved youths, I was able to read Prof. Olukotun's eloquent, informative, and inspiring essay based on the July 6 roundtable at Lead City University. That event is intrinsic to the Forum on Nigerian Pathways (FNP) that will be conducted in many venues, in Nigeria and abroad, and via various media.

The "Better Chance" that a group of us (administrators, teachers, college students) set out to promote for America's disadvantaged youths in the summer of 1964 - a program that has now served tens of thousands of young citizens - is what we will pursue, via the FNP, for ALL the people of the Federation of Nigeria.
