Hello Readers:
My Uncle Dr. Chika Onyeani just called me with an African-centered wisdom: Stop bashing your Uncle in public. Accordingly, I will not do that again. There is a beauty in African values and home-training. When an elder calls you up, you listen. You cannot let Oyingbo sense overrule the endurable African culture. That is shakara, improper, and valueless.
So dear Esteemed Readers, now that you have used " your own two eyes" to see the official postponement from the AUC people, prepare for September.
There is not much Africa Diaspora can do with Obama three-day-lecture for African Presidents with sideshows of corporate muscles and strings-attached philanthropy in a dizzying array of juxtaposition to secure interests in Africa's resources. Have resources, Corporate Council on Africa, etc. will fix your Head of State image with breakfast, lunch or dinner whether or not you believe in human, woman, or pikin rights or no rights. Here is the map:
Meanwhile, my Uncle reiterated concerns over the African Union Ambassadorial Absence in Washington, DC. That is above my vision to see and comment. But you cannot even reach the African Union Mission in the US. The phone does not work. Anybody who is successful should share the number as a public service.

On the matter of impotent Africa Diaspora, pop corn and soda is advised for the movie. Who is the next Abdoulaye Wade to cure this impotence?
I have gone fishing in River Nile........wondering about when the greats lived.....Lumumba, Sankara, Mboya, Nkrumah, Mandela.......
Have a great week.
MsJoe

Dear Evelyn,
Thank you for always standing up with a distinctive, moral clarity. When I read the email, I did not know you could have informally discussed the information with Dr. Onyeani and he was caught by surprise. It also appears you must have got the information from an improper channel and the AU-CIDO people were irresponsible.
Does Dr. Onyeani know you by calling you an emerging leader? I laughed at that one.
These folks appear to gear for all kinds of finger pointing. Whose fault is it that the Africa Diaspora could not have a program? Does he not work with Ambassador Erika to have put together a program instead of a banquet to raise funds?Does he not work with Dr. Zuma to have organized a program?
Anyway, kudos for refusing to get into the confusion making.
Bren

Dear Dr. Chika Onyeani:
While I do not contest the technical fact that I sent out a postponement notice to members in my email lists, which include journalists and advocacy groups, in regards to the cited Town-Hall meeting being organized by the African Union Commission, I take exception to the mischaracterization of the context, which may be inadvertent. However, journalistic ethics are responsibilities to uphold in the interest of fairness and integrity of the report.
The contribution of Africa Diaspora to African development can be a patriotic and volunteer undertaking that needs no special patronage. The information on the Town-hall Meeting was distributed to the stakeholder public. Customarily, people forward information and the contacts were listed. You understood I was compiling and sending out information, which is ordinary and incidental in disseminating information. In doing so, I learnt that the event was postponed. It was my responsibility to send the notice to those who received the information. We communicate regularly on public affairs. I discussed the postponement with you. You cannot conscientiously cite me to underscore your surprise in a publication. I take exception to the exploit because it is neither a factual depiction of the circumstances nor an advisable use of information.
If you were concerned, the contact information was available. Further, you have a working relationship with the officials to verify and share your concerns. Certainly, they should have sent a postponement notice. If this is yet to happen, given the tone in your article, it is unfortunate that I should be a pawn in whatever you intend to communicate. It is not a role I desire or will entertain.
Granted that you felt compelled to express yourself in the article, which conveyed a litany of woes, your characterization of myself, however begin, was uncalled for. When I interviewed you on a program I hosted on Pacifica's WPFW Radio more than 10 years ago on Africa, that is not what an "emerging leader" in Washington, DC does. I steer clear of public pomposities. Who is "a leader" is among the irrelevant scrambling and squabbling I have no need for.
I work with a range of people and public discretion is key. If you are going to cite me in a publication, due courtesy warrants an opportunity to clarify my views.
Evelyn Joe
If in my volunteer efforts, I sent out information and
You knew I was compiling information on Journaliststhe Town hall meeting
To each, the A call was issued
that You understood I was compiling information on journalist.
If you exchange informal updates and gain access to information,
First you cannot blur I also do not think you intended to misuse information. By mischaracterizing me in a depicting your public publication when you could
when your thrust
private certainly do not intend to abuse personal relationalso do not intend to be a pawn in the "emerging young leader in Washington, DC" claptrap.
