All I know is that the African states of the former British West Africa are going to have a common currency the eco, from 1st January, 2015. It will make trade easier. The smallies (the smaller countries like the Gambia and Sierra Leone) could soon be shaking, in mortal dread of Nigeria and the big-cigar Nigerian tycoons could soon be buying up all of us. And yet I can't make head or tail out of this little news item that turned up in one of the Sierra fora:
