USA Africa Dialogue Series - Re - Is Nigeria having cold feet over the Eco?

"Cowards", they say, "die many times before their deaths

All I know is that the African states of the former British West Africa are going to have a common currency the eco, from 1^st January, 2015. It will make trade easier. The smallies (the smaller countries like the Gambia and Sierra Leone) could soon be shaking, in mortal dread of Nigeria and the big-cigar Nigerian tycoons could soon be buying up all of us. And yet I can't make head or tail out of this little news item that turned up in one of the Sierra fora:
