Re: USA Africa Dialogue Series - APC 2015: Tinubu Backs Buhari as APC Presidential Candidate

Alagba Ogugua Anunoby,

As you say, " no one should be surprised". Boys Scout : Be prepared. Be prepared for anything..

By the way I saw the Emir of Kano, Sir Lamido having a nice time on BBC yesterday...

Re - your words : "While anything is possible in Nigeria's politics, it is still the case that there usually is no honor among thieves. They steal by themselves. They steal together. They also steal from each other."

In not so many reverential words, when speaking of the Honest General, Brother Buhari and his close ally Tinubu - correct me if I'm wrong - but what I hear lurking within your words is some sinister impute, when you say that "They have reaped huge rewards"

And what are these rewards that you make mention of?  How huge? Financial ?

Not criminal I hope.

Although the elections are only five months way the wind that one caches from the Nigerian media is that  all kinds of signs and directions are in flux, so even up to this late date of course speculations are rife but there's nothing tentative , with Boko Haram taking centre stage with carnage up there in North-Eastern Nigeria and a possible outbreak of Ebola in Lagos there's  precious little else to talk about or to grab the media 's attention  - they are otherwise busy, writing opinion pieces mostly based on rumour and speculation, getting people unnecessarily excited ( not too good for weak hearts) busy creating make-belief (artificial) scenarios   - in the Ms Clinton has come as far as saying   that she's " thinking about it" - thinking of running for president - just when I thought that it was a confirmed public secret that she was going to take a shot at the Democratic nomination...but it's too early in the day to know if Muhammadu Buhrai is going to be a presidential candidate , not after Professor Zalanga saying, " When I was in Nigeria recently, one of the profound things I learned was that former Nigerian military leader, General Buhari, can never be Nigeria's president....

the greatest opposition to Buhari is the great majority of traditional rulers in the North, the rich of the North, and high ranking government officials. Why? For one, many of the traditional rulers have grudges against him starting from the time when he was military ruler with Tunde Idiagbon and he disciplined them. The rich and high ranking civil servants in the North feel he would never allow them to embezzle public funds the way it is currently being done if he is power."

If this is general knowledge/ a public perception, then it must also be a consideration of the APC selection committee.

And so Professor Anunoby,  hold your horse; you can put the "predictable rumble" on hold.

It's just after the elections over here in Sweden and it's a little chaotic. but the chaos is systematic.

Politics in Nigeria is mostly a chaotic but predictable rumble. No one should be surprised that sooner or later, it will be reported that there are indications that Buhari may be considering Tinubu as his running mate. The plot was never thick. It has always been what it was- to have Buhari/Tinubu as the APC presidential ticket in the 2015 presidential election. Will the ticket work before, during, and after the election? Only time will tell. Remember the Obasanjo/Atiku ticket?

While anything is possible in Nigeria's politics, it is still the case that there usually is no honor among thieves. They steal by themselves. They steal together. They also steal from each other. Nigerians who are not part of the affray, will continue to do what they do well- hope in God, pray to God, and trust that they will join the scuffle that is Nigeria's politics someday. Buhari and Tinubu did. They have reaped huge rewards. Why not them?

All Progressive Congress - APC 2015: Tinubu Backs Buhari as APC Presidential Candidate

There are indications that former Lagos State governor and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu may have endorsed former Head of state, General Muhammadu Buhari as the party's consensus candidate for the 2015 presidential election.

Confirming the development, Spokesman of the party in the South-East, Osita Okechukwu said Tinubu has thrown his weight behind the Buharii ticket for 2015. He noted that all the aspirant will be convinced to step down for Buhari. Sources said Tinubu and other leaders of the party are currently considering choosing Buhari via consensus to avoid bitter conflicts that may arise from a keenly contested primary election.

The party is expected to kick start the process of its primaries from September 25, when aspirants

are expected to indicate interest to contest by picking the party's nomination forms.
