Student Wins U.S.$9,550 Research Grant


Abeokuta — A postgraduate student of the Department of Biological Sciences, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Hammed Mogaji, has been awarded the sum of $9,550 as research and training grant for his MSc programme in tropical disease research (TDR).
Funded by the World Health Organisation (WHO), the research grant would cover the full payment of his two-year tuition fees and support for learning materials, computer and preparation of his dissertation.


In an interview, Hammed thanked God for the grant and described the offer as a great challenge to his academic career, which will spur him to do more.


He also commended his project supervisor, Dr. Friday Ekpo, for laying a good foundation for him and mentoring him well about the process of winning research grants, stating that he had learnt a lot from him. Hammed, an alumnus of FUNAAB, studying Parasitology, noted that the grant awarded him would take him to places and that hardwork remained his driving force.
