The Department of Government and International Affairs (GIA) at the University of South Florida invites applicants for a 9-month tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning on August 7, 2015.
A Ph.D. in Political Science (or related field) from an accredited institution with a specialization in American government is required for the position. Applications from ABDs will be considered, but the degree must be conferred by appointment start date. The teaching load is four courses per year. Candidates must be able to teach both undergraduate and graduate level courses. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate teaching effectiveness and a promising research agenda. The Department is particularly interested in candidates whose teaching and research specialty is in American political institutions (Congress, the presidency, or the bureaucracy). Preference will also be given to candidates whose research and teaching emphasizes security policy, which includes, but is not limited to, national security, cyber security, homeland security, economic security, personal security, health security, environmental security, or food security.
Salary is negotiable. Review of applications will begin on November 7, 2014 and will continue until the position is filled.
