USA Africa Dialogue Series - Cosby is a monster, Obasanjo is a statesman: Different strokes for different animals!

Bill Cosby is in the news. For all the wrong reasons. I believe the women. I do. I believe now that there should be no statute of limitations on these types of grave allegations. There should be no statute of limitations on rape allegations, period. Also, it should be a crime to settle these issues out of court because there is an equity issue. The rich walk and the poor pay (rightfully so) for their crimes.

But America will sort itself out, there are laws and processes for these kinds of things. There are more "women and children empowerment" NGOs per square mile in Nigeria than in all of America. Most of thes NGOs are pretend outfits for the sole purpose of enriching their owners. My mother would not know an NGO if one sidled by in a tinted SUV. Meanwhile in Nigeria, women and children are abused with impunity because no one holds anyone ACCOUNTABLE. Publishers can get away with not paying writers, journalists can get away with typing lies for profit and we all know that our rulers are abusive criminals.

Take the wife abuse charges against Olusegun Obasanjo, by Remi Obasanjo. No book has upset me more in recent times than Bitter-Sweet: My Life with Obasanjo, written by Mrs. Oluremi Obasanjo, Chief Matthew Aremu Olusegun Obasanjo's first wife. This is one horrible book on many levels. It is a perverse metaphor for all that is wrong with Nigeria, but ultimately there is a gripping story under that book's covers. Yes, it is a gripping book; I could not put it down. Read this book and weep for the fate of the women and children of Nigeria.
In a real country, this horrible man, Obasanjo would be in BIG trouble. Not in Nigeria. He struts around the place and is feted by adoring men and women, with journalists asking him soft questions. And we wonder why no one respects us. How many of you feminists have held him accountable? I am pleased that so many Nigerians are mad at Bill Cosby. But charity begins at home. What have you done to hold your own animals accountable? Nothing.
Dear Nigerian, when you stop calling your thieves and abusers baba, then you may come complain to me about corruption or mistreatment of women and children. You are the problem. I have said my own, oya, alele, go and take a selfie with Baba! Nonsense!

When you are done taking a selfie with Baba, read my review of Mrs. Obasanjo's tell-all-book:
