So, how do we stop the runaway train coming from the opposition direction and heading for a headlong collision?
All this does not bode well for the Presidential elections which are only eighty-five (85) days away.
On the one hand bedlam breaking loose in the National Assembly in Abuja, tear-gas and scuffles leading to seven arrests.
On the other hand Boko Haram ostensibly on the run in some places but still rapidly extending their region of dar-al Islam by conquest.
It's not so clear what the Northern PDP governors are saying, but soon to be on the agenda in the National Assembly one can only anticipate a discussion that is now obvious and could become even more inevitable in the progress to more chaos in the Northern parts of the country, namely, what is suggested by both His Eminence the Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi 11 and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, that the defenceless people who are not being offered protection by the police and military, should wisely protect themselves, their lives, their daughters and their wives, their families and properties from the approaching onslaught of the very determined and increasingly desperate marauders of the Boko Haram. About this self-protection, one would have thought that there would be a consensus among the concerned lawgivers and others in authority. In the absence of the needed self-protection and the expansion of Boko Haram operations, the state of emergency will inevitably have to encompass those areas being either protected by the Nigerian military and those left to fend for themselves.
Prevention may be better than cure and that's why if the country continues to slide into further chaos there's a strong likelihood that the Military may have to step in to be in charge and to take control of the situation. Those are not infallibly prophetic or professorial words, only common sense that's observing the way in which the wind is blowing: more states of emergency = a national emergency... and then it's "Only a matter of time 'till night comes steppin' in"....

Bedlam broke out this morning at the National Assembly complex as the police barricaded the House of Representatives preventing Speaker Aminu Tambuwal from entering the complex. Latest reports reaching Elombah.com says the Senate President, David Mark, has ordered that the National Assembly complex be shut down till next week Tuesday, 25th November, 2014.
The Reps had been summoned by the Speaker to discuss President Goodluck Jonathan's request for a further three-month extension of the emergency rule in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states.
But Security operatives, Thursday, stopped the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal from entering the National Assembly Complex.
Lawmakers who accompanied the speaker had to climb the second entry point gate as some who could not climb sustained injuries while trying to scale over.
At about 10.54am after much entreaties the speaker was allowed entry but other lawmakers were denied entry.
The speaker's official car was detained but after his entry into the outer space of the complex, Security men barricaded him and shot tear gas carnisters into the air to scare him but the speaker stood his ground. .
The speaker who got to NASS at about 10.38am was accompanied by a long convoy of cars and was allowed to pass through the outer gate entry point.
The Deputy Speaker, Emeka Ihedioha arrived earlier at about 10.35am and was given a presidential passage into the complex.
Reports from Abuja say the police responded with a hail of tear gas as APC lawmakers resorted to scaling the fence to enter the premises.
Tambuwal was later allowed to enter the chambers and was reported to be meeting with APC lawmakers as at the time of filing this report. The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is insisting that Tambuwal steps down as Speaker following his recent defection from the party. The police has since withdrawn Tambuwal's security.
Senate President David Mark hurriedly announced the suspension of sitting as the tear gas fired by the police took its toll.
