USA Africa Dialogue Series - Things are hotting up 83 days to the Nigerian Presidential elections.

How can President Goodluck Jonathan not afford to not extend the state of emergency if things get any hotter as the Election Day approaches?

Not exactly dignified:

Hon. Aminu Tambuwal requesting permission to enter premises of National Assembly

Hon.  Femi Fani Kayode spitting fire at Governor Rotimi Amaechi

On the Boko Haram front:

" Chad's Bichara Gnoti arrested with 19 SAM 2 missiles meant for the Boko Haram usage "

Rabbi Sacks concludes his derasha on Toldot  with these words:

"That is how the moral life is. We learn by making mistakes. We live life forward, but we understand it only looking back. Only then do we see the wrong turns we inadvertently made. This discovery is sometimes our greatest moment of moral truth.

For each of us there is a blessing that is ours. That was true not just of Isaac but also Ishmael, not just Jacob but also Esau. The moral could not be more powerful. Never seek your brother's blessing. Be content with your own.[3]"

Over here in Diaspora Sweden there are worries after the Jerusalem synagogue massacre  there was a time ( more than a decade ago) when I did not miss a single Sabbath service at the synagogue, in fact I used to walk all the way to the Sabbath morning Service, but especially now,  after the Jerusalem massacre  these words from Professor Falola's  "Counting the Tiger's Teeth"  albeit  about the past, are presently ringing in my ears  sort of futuristically :
" I was worried, nervous in that moment  that  the end of history  was in sight, that the end of the world  was near. I would soon be gone to join my father in heaven, a place of no return..."

Just as Woody Allen puts it:

"It's not that I'm afraid to die. I just don't want to be there when it happens."
