This was a great Christmas Message from President Goodluck Jonathan, a message that Nigerians ought to take to heart.
"...the virtues of love for our fellowmen, tolerance, Godliness, honesty, fairness to others, selflessness, and peaceful co-existence with others, by all adult Nigerians, and the inculcation of the same in our youth, will definitely help our dear nation to overcome most of its present challenges."
When the president addresses the whole nation/all Nigerians, the whole nation usually listens and hears: Now, especially with the presidential elections just round the corner, every presidential address to the nation is of added significance to the electorate and in my opinion if we can say "Mother Nigeria" – if Nigeria is indeed our "Sweet Mother" then we are all her children and this special appeal for unity based on common human values, starting with the idea of reverence for God-given life is the basis for peace and brotherhood not only for Nigeria/ Nigerians, but all mankind:
President Goodluck Jonathan's Christmas Message to fellow Nigerians
The idea of incarnation is a good Hindu idea – there are even those who believe that Mahatma Gandhi was / is an incarnation of Vishnu, but that idea certainly does not go down well with al-Islam – and maybe President Jonathan could have left the incarnation idea out of his Christmas sermon and still be a good Christian (I can imagine how the Muslim Hausa man reacts to hearing that part of President Jonathan's message translated into Hausa, the idea of Allah sub han t'ala appearing in person in the bodily form of a Jewish guy/ prophet, Jesus son of Mary, and I myself am inclined to fully endorse the moral appeal and exhortations/ encouragements in President Goodluck Jonathan's message that in the name of love of the Almighty, we must also love the Almighty's creation, that is, all mankind, and that includes the person that was Jesus of Nazareth – and indeed Muslims greatly revere Jesus as a prophet (Isa – alaihi salaam) - this is just a personal opinion...
