Subject: [Higher Ed in Prison] Historians in prison
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
I'm planning to propose a panel/session for next year's American Historical Association annual convention (Jan 2016) in which all the papers would be delivered via videoconferencing by people in prison (or perhaps in person by formerly incarcerated people). Please let me know if you have any students in your programs who are doing interesting work on history, especially, but not exclusively, on prison history.
The AHA is publishing an article next month by one of my students on the history of women's prisons (and a sidebar on doing history in prison). After very preliminary conversations, I think they might look favorably on the proposed panel. I want to get some sense of who else could be involved.
Thank you, Kelsey
