Musiliu Obanikoro is a senator. Remember him, right? #EkitiGate. There is a video on YouTube that makes it clear that this man and PDP have a real case to answer about what happened in Ekiti in the name of Nigerian-style democracy.
In a real nation, this man would be before a tribunal explaining himself. Nope, our president Goodluck Jonathan rewards him with a nomination for minister for something. There is also the little issue of why he would be nominating anyone so close to the end of this tenure. He knows what we all know, which is that he will be president until 2019, APC will not smell the kitchen of Aso Rock.
But then, Obanikoro is now minister, with the active collusion of the criminals of PDP and APC. They all acted out senate President David Mark's script. He has everyone in the senate under his thumb, don't mind the yeye APC. He pays them in dollars and they all jump as high as he wants them to. If you don't believe me, go and look at the voting records of your APC change agents in the senate. Unanimous, unanimous, with the PDP, against the people. In the evening they retire to David Mark's stolen mansion for drinks, point-and-kill, suya, and dollars. Change ko, change ni!
Obanikoro is now a minister. Imagine that. It all went as planned. "Senator" David Mark allowed this charade to play itself out. Again, for the uninitiated, David Mark runs the "debates" in the senate with an iron fist and fistfuls of dollars.
Watch this video, and laugh and weep for your country. If after watching that show of shame you still believe that the APC is the change we need then there is something seriously wrong with you.
Watch "Senator" Tinubu as she claws Obanikoro's airspace, hoots and hollers at him like a deranged spouse berating a drunken philandering deadbeat of a husband. Obanikoro takes it in calmly, lovable rascal, with a perverse dignity, bowing and curtsying to the assembly of crooks. A couple of people stood up and mumbled nonsense about the rape of democracy - and promptly sat down. David Mark sat, looking bored, waiting for his minions to act out the approved script. In the end, Obanikoro bowed and went out of that chamber a minister.
I can assure you that in the evening, all those legislators, including Tinubu assembled as required in David Mark's mansion and felicitated with Obabikoro over his promotion. There was booze, food, and lots of dollars. Change is here. Animal Farm. Nonsense.
Did the APC legislators barricade themselves in the house, did they chant, "No, we nor gree!!!"??? Are these not the same tribe of people that scaled walls and fought for their rights the last time it affected their distended stomachs? And where were our public intellectuals? A couple made polite noises and resumed their bleating on behalf of something called change. It is our cowardice and hypocrisy that will kill off our nation. This is why our rulers and intellectuals do not respect us. We allow them to rubbish us. We deserve them. Nonsense.
