| Prof., Thank you again for this opinion. I really feel so strongly about elite commitment and elite sacrifice. It seems to me that that ought to be the starting point of a reconnect back not only to a democratic social contract but also the beginning of a purging exercise that will convince the people that their vanguard has been delivered (I connotate deliverance in the best pentecostal sense of the word as setting free from evil and demonic oppression, and in this context, the oppression of greed). It therefore seems to me that Buhari's most logical opening statement of anti-corruption intent should be what you outlined: the immediate decimation of profligacy! Let Buhari begin by seeking a constitutional basis for removing the waste-incurring special assistantship and ministers of state et al. Slashing salaries and other stuffs like asset declaration are too trivial to storm this terrible rampart. Our democracy's proclivity to generate stifling expenses and unmitigated wastage must be dealt with decisively. Sincerity seems to me the first condition of succeesful governance. Let Buhari wield the big stick, well within the constitutional boundary, and he would have the support of Nigerians...well, except those who are too demonically infested for even deliverance! The billion-naira question: Does Buhari possess the capacity to do this? That question will soon be resolved. Adeshina Afolayan Sent from Yahoo Mail on Android
