While not subtracting anything from this tectonic election, which has made Africa so proud, there is no denying that the votes distinctly reflect ethno-political casting. I quicken to add, and it is fair in democracy.
Of course, there would be pockets of SE and even SS in the APC essence - but it is not the norm, just as we have African Americans in the Republican party.
Internally in Naija, how the new political maturity will translate into equitable development in all geopolitical zones is what pricks my interest.
What will change in global geopolitics, such as US, EU policy and how AU will be assertive as a result of Buhari, is what concerns me because it affects African development.
The Americans and Europeans are already figuring all that with think tank conferences, lobbyist maneuvering, and other mechanisms to influence/corner opportunities in Africa. I hope the Buhari victory and administration will usher winds of change, especially in free and fair elections, in more parts of Africa....and with the mandate, the leaders can led! and defend/protect Africa's interest and serve the people.
So to me, the election is over and governing should begin.
Here we are shooting breeze over nothing. I think it is more productive for Nigerians/Africans who care about such matters to rise to the discourse and action through a credible organizing and delivery. Africans lament that African governments prefer White lobbyists, companies, contractors and anything but Africa for development engagements and representations. That is correct and practical because Africans behave like "crab in the basket" with more individuals whose interest starts and ends with what they can get with no organizational platform standards to uphold the reputation of the industry or no thought that they have to build to gain. Worse, they pull down others instead on focusing on what they want to do. That is another version of greed and roguery. That is why Cooperate Council on Africa and other non-African entities rule the roost regardless of who wins in Nigeria or other parts of Africa.
SO WHAT WILL REALLY CHANGE and CAN AFRICANS CHANGE IT?
Cheers!

Ms Joe,
Don't mind Collins. The election is won and lost already. What INEC announces in Abuja is what has already been announced at local government and state levels by local INEC. That is why the overall winner is known already. We are only waiting for a formal declaration. As human beings we always ask for miracle to change what we don't like. That is why Collins is expecting a miracle to change what is obvious.

Maybe my sources in Naija did not do the math correctly. I am disappointed but in my line of discipline, brooding is not an option. My chin is up. If the numbers do not hold up and the SS votes tip them, I expect my currently elated friends ( hahahaha lol, lol) to be equally kind and donate minerals enough for a party.
Right now, they are flying high like kites.
Some are already on their way to Abuja from the Diaspora. Neb, darling, please I don't want to see you start writing your name with SAN, SAN:-))
Best and peace to all.

Ms Joe,
Results from 5 states in the South South --Rivers (1.5 Million), Edo, Delta, Cross River, and Bayelsa are yet to be released. We are talking of at least 6 Million votes in Jonathan's stronghold, so go figure.

Buhari won - no buts, ifs. The hotly contested election has its up-side on democracy - regardless of the plays, which are inherent in opposition politics. I am wrapping up with Western spectators and speculators on African Affairs - as we monitored the returns from known and unofficial channels. When 3/4 of the votes came in, the Fat Lady Sang. I offered fried plantains, soya or suya, and assorted drinks from Africa. I don't know whether all these were duty free - say AGOA....LOL.
Wellu, wellu, Africa proved that on this, she needed no lecture on conducting credible elections. The calamitous projection from the Western and jaundiced press is not going to happen.
We must move on and wish Buhari God's speed in governing, including tackling to erase Boko Haram.
The life of each Nigerian and the sanctity of peace are more important than an election cycle. The national tasks ahead are more crucial. The polity cannot be over heated to embittered ends. Nigeria is too pivotal in African Affairs to let the sentiments of our preferences overshadow the greater good. I am proud of SouthEastern and the South-South States for holding to principles and convictions. The Ekiti Exceptionality, this smooch is for you! lol. Don't fear....retribution in SW. Buha will not lock up anyone for dissing him.
See some of you on April 17 at the US Congress - Leveraging Africa Diaspora Capital for Development. Buhari will also need that.... as all African governments....lol.
MsJoe
