Many people around the world vote for their stomachs.

When the US economy nose- dived in 2008 under Bush,
Obama's promise of better days resonated with the American voter.

If he had promised a continuation of economic decline, few would have voted for him.

Sometimes voters conclude that if their 'countryman' or affiliate should be in power then there would be a redistribution
of resources in their favor.


In any case, though, we should transcend this dualistic/ bipolar ethnic - based narrative.
