From the myriad debates as Nigeria moved from one political "dispensation" to another, it is possible to compile a list of the shortcomings in governance.

Could a metric system be devised and published prominently to track the gains and backsliding during the next four years? Perhaps such a system already exists. It should preferably be designed by Nigerians and maintained by them.

Thanks for an interesting article. You are on point about the appearance of non preparedness to engage the pulling and hauling of politics. However I can't fathom why you lay the blame for the BVN imbroglio at Buhari's feet. This is a policy from 2014. Even as a Nigerian in the diaspora with a bank account at home,  I was deluged with emails pushing for securing the number almost on a daily basis. If I didn't respond before the deadline, as did these fellow citizens, we should blame Buhari?  I actually think people who missed the deadline should pay a small fine of maybe 100 naira. 

For his own sake and for reasons of posterity I hope Buhari has something up his sleeve that would checkmate his reckless, rascally,  irresponsible fellow politicians whose expediently assembled coalition is falling apart like some "ile ti a fi ito mo" (a house held together with saliva). The Yoruba saying ends with the phrase: "iri ni o woo" (is felled by the dew). This captures the essence of the goings on in the national Assembly where the personal short term interests of the political class is favored over and above the citizens' and country's general and long term gains.
