In Israel the school children are taught the religion of Islam with respect for the religion. This is not an extreme view. The idea of educating school children about the diversity of religious beliefs in Nigeria is a good idea. However, it's not everybody of the school going generation that's interested in being taught or being informed about the religion of Islam, not even in preparation for some future Islamic Caliphate of Nigeria.
Assuming that the purpose of "President Muhammadu Buhari ordering the Federal Ministry of Education to include two Islamic Studies books written by the late Justice Muhammad Bashir Sambo in the secondary school curriculum for all Federal Government Colleges" is to promote tolerance and understanding and respect for other people's right to peacefully practice their beliefs, in my humble opinion, in the name of fairness and equality, books that cover other religions apart from Islam, such as books that cover Christianity and other major beliefs practised in Nigeria should also be included as a mandatory part of all Federal secondary schools' curriculum.

If the above report is true, Nigerians should be worried about the course of the Buhari presidency.
The president should have no role dictating/directing the education curriculum of Nigeria's academic institutions. He has no business forcing book of his choice on the institutions. What dictation/directive outside his purview, will it be next? He should focus on the big picture, develop policies and programs, put together competent operating teams to get things done, and of course supervise them without breathing steamily over the team members' shoulders. y
