The Centre for Conflict Resolution (CCR) is an independent, non-governmental pan-African organisation, based in Cape Town, South Africa. Over the past 48 years, it has worked to promote constructive, creative, and co-operative approaches to the resolution of conflicts and the reduction of violence in Africa. The Centre has produced ground-breaking research on African security and governance issues, conducted extensive capacity-building training, and facilitated peace processes across Africa.
CCR invites applications from suitable candidates to fill the following position:
SENIOR RESEARCHER: POLICY DEVELOPMENT AND RESEARCH (PDR)
CCR’s Policy Development and Research (PDR) project seeks to strengthen the capacity of key African institutions and actors working on peacebuilding issues. It has wide-ranging research experience on the African Union (AU) and the regional economic communities (RECs), the United Nations (UN), the European Union (EU), South Africa’s foreign policy, human rights and peacebuilding issues.
Key responsibilities:
§ To contribute to the vision and leadership of the PDR Cluster;
§ To develop and implement relevant research projects;
§ To build and maintain the profile of the PDR Cluster internally and externally; and
§ To help manage the administrative and financial requirements of the PDR Cluster.
Requirements:
§ PhD degree in a related field;
§ At least five years work experience in the field of Social Sciences including at least two years in research;
§ Excellent writing, editing, research, and analytical skills;
§ Sound knowledge of African politics, peace and security, and related issues;
§ Management and administration skills; and
§ Ability to network.

§ Publishing ability.
This position involves national and international travel.
