Why a helipad in Daura? A president that took his job seriously, would not travel to his hometown more than a few times in a year. He would not approve of this outrage at a very tough time for Nigeria's economy. His immediate family members may travel more often but that is no reason to construct a helipad in Daura for their leisure travel. Does Nigeria owe them that too?
Is every future president now entitled to construct a helipad and soon airport in his/her home town if the town is not served by either facility? What happens to the helipad if Buhari turns out to be a one term president for whatever reason? What a dangerous precedent? What other construction has or is going in Daura with public funds? Buhari was sold to Nigerians as a sure austere president was he not? What is going on?
Owners of the land acquired for the construction of the said helipad are entitled to full compensation. The hope is that they have and also that public officials have not short-changed them and the state by unlawfully profiting in the process.

Remember differences in the terrains. Daura would be a lot dustier than Lagos and that may be why a larger land space may be needed in Daura.
Three things I notice though:
1. The cost of the helipad was not mentioned.
2. Truly, if it was Jonathan that made a helipad like this, Lai Mohammed would have been screaming while the internet forums would have been agog with condemnations.
3. Many Nigerians said there were too many aircraft in the presidential fleet but President Buhari is not making moves to reduce the number. When some people sponsored the story that he was going to prune the fleet, he promptly denied it, meaning he wants to keep and make use of the planes himself.

So over 60 plots of land just for an helipad?
Maybe it's an estate.
There is an helipad on a plot of land on Ozumba Mbadiwe in V/Island, Lagos.
Na wa oh. From primary school grounds to an estate sized landing space.
Thank You

Land owners get compensation for Buhari's helipad
By Habibu Umar Aminu, Katsina | Publish Date: Sep 21 2015 4:49AM | Updated Date: Sep 21 2015 12:33AM
About N60m has been paid as compensation to people whose lands were used for the construction of a helipad for President Muhammadu Buhari in his home town in Daura.
Over four hectares of land was used for the helipad.
Speaking at the presentation of cash and cheques to the beneficiaries at the weekend, the Secretary to the State Government, Mustapha Inuwa, represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Lands and Survey, Salihu Rimi, said standard procedures were followed in the payment and to ascertain the true owners of the land.
He said the true copies of certificates of occupancy and yellow cards were all verified before the payment.
Before the construction of the helipad, President Buhari used school play grounds for helicopter landings when coming home.
