What a teachable moment! But what a tragedy for the teacher. What an
opportunity missed to open the window of a kid's mind to the sunshine
of other possibilities. If the teacher had made out time (we wouldn't
know for sure but I doubt) to explain perspectives and contexts to the
kid in simple and demonstrative terms perhaps we would have a prodigy
of dialectics on our hands. A rational thinker. While hope is not lost
for such a perceptive kid, I weep for the closed mind of the teacher.
