We understand what Vladimir Putin is talking about. Divide and rule: Hamas for example was created in 1987, to break the backbone of the PLO. And ISIS, who created them and for what purpose? Isis and their black banners are going to be around for another one hundred years, will morph into other names, with the same ideas for which they are prepared to give their blood.
With regard to Nigeria, in the early 1980s there was Maitatsine now defunct. The only extremist group today is that of Boko Haram whose genesis is still shrouded in mystery, still hell-bent in terrorising and destabilizing Nigeria as the means to achieving their avowed political goal of transforming Nigeria into an Islamic State which we are to surmise will be but an appendage or affiliate of their boss man Caliph Al-Baghdadi's worldwide caliphate to be temporarily headquartered in Baghdad, Iraq. Boko Haram has thus far not targeted the South – and that would only exacerbate the North –South religious divide and hasten the dissolution of Nigeria. To date we are not aware that Boko Haram has sent any of their terror jihadists to assist their jihadist IS brethren in Iraq and Syria but we can be sure that should that happen, Nigeria will be receiving more attention from the Pentagon and other parties that are anxious to weaken IS recruitment and break their other sources of strength.
