Re: USA Africa Dialogue Series - Fwd: ||NaijaObserver|| SEE Why We Blacks Continue To Remain Backward

I understand your point, but this is not a "black" issue.

It is not comic relief in my opinion. It is a sad commentary on what has become of Africa's leaders and their countries. For many of the leaders, democracy seems to be, government of the people by the few for the few.

If the said convoy is indeed Kenya's president's, Kenyans should be worried, very worried I might add. You tell me how the costs and size of the convoy helps by any positive measure, to move Kenya forward.

It is a mind thing. The Dutch politician sees himself as a servant. The African politician sees himself as a master.

If I remember correctly, Chinweizu in his book "The West and the Rest of Us" argued that Africa's leaders after independence were more concerned with replacing former colonial masters as "oppressors" of their people, than creating great egalitarian countries. They mostly did not. Their successors have not. The waiting game goes on. Hope is becoming despair.

So, a Dutch politician rides a bicycle and an African head of state rides in a convoy of expensive cars and this is enough to determine the fate of a whole race of people? I hope this remark is made simply for comic relief.

SEE Why We Blacks Continue To Remain Backward

The only way you can lead a "purpose-driving life" in the short time you have to spend in this world is if you don't allow money, position, power to confuse you or make you feel more important than others.

Just look at the above scenario:

**The simple man riding a bicycle is the Prime Minister of Netherlands, Mark Rutte on his way to his office. This is how he serves his people.

**The powerful man leading the long convo is the President on an African country, President Uhuru Kenyatta. He is "lord" over his people.

Funny enough, Netherlands makes cars but Kenya can not produce bicycle. Chai! Africa is in trouble!
