On the 5th of May 2015 you, Ikhide, posted a link on this forum: http://www.thecable.ng/igbos-vote-based-stomach-says-soyinka. Your post's headline was, Igbos Vote Based on Their Stomach, Says Soyinka. Commenting on it, you wrote, "If Soyinka actually said this, then I have lost ALL respect for the man. I am sure the Yoruba do not vote for their stomachs, whatever that means. Nonsense." After Soyinka had rebuked thecable.ng, the online news apologised to Soyinka for crediting him with the false statement in question. Unless you assigned to yourself the right to be an uncritical reader because you belong to the older generation and not this generation, your reaction to the alleged statement of Soyinka did not follow what you want others to do in case of Donald Trump. Your quality of education made you to read the crap credited to Soyinka and not to see it as poorly written satire. How could you believe that crap credited to Soyinka? It was after The Cable had apologised to Soyinka for crediting him with false statement that you posted their apology to this forum and you apologised too for your earlier reckless and irresponsible reaction. If Soyinka had denied making the statement without The Cable retracting it, you would still have believed that Soyinka actually uttered those words.
Unlike Soyinka, Donald Trump, who must have heard the statement credited to him aboutAfricans, has not bothered to deny it. Mr. Trump has headache and you are swallowing Panadol on his behalf. Why?

Amazing how precious few ever bothered to do the research on this issue before blowing steam on a non issue. Beyond that what is alarming is how uncritical many readers of this generation are. How it is that navy would read that crap and not see it as poorly written satire says a lot about the quality of education these days. How could anyone believe that crap?
Read this:
Then see where the satire came from; it is a riff from the buffoon's earlier statement:
We are carrying elephants in our heads and our toes are flirting with crickets.

an eloquent plea for humanity. who could not agree?
but a coda must be added, salimonu, really.
i just got a lengthy message from our local neighborhood policeman who includes, in his patrols, the area of woods, adjacent to our neighborhood, where poor people live in tents. some of our neighbors are afraid of them, want the cops to move them out, away, anywhere but near us. some of the poor who live there survive by panhandling: they go to busy intersections where they have signs, begging for help, for money.
so, the poor are not just in africa; the rich are not just in europe, the north.
the neoliberal divide between rich and poor, which is the topic of your eloquent statement, is not just between the global north and the global south. it is much closer to home. even though mine is a modest middleclass neighborhood, we are homeowners; those people in the woods have tents, and our winters are really really cold.
if we are called to act so as to make life better for people around us, we, the homeowners, the fully employed, or even, if you will, the ones who live better in an age of neoliberalism, need to attend to those who are worse off.
african neoliberal capitalists have accumulated enormous wealth, and live cheek by jowl with the poor, as do we.
your message should go out to them, as well.

to say the slave trade was abolished due to mechanization of ag is to dismiss the entire effort of the abolition movement, of its success earlier in the u.k., the continuation of political and even military efforts against it.
the change in agriculture was a factor, not the only, not the determinant one.
anyway, that's what i imagine is true

--When classical slave trade was abolished in America, due to mechanisation of agriculture, the white Americans attributed poverty among the Blacks to their laziness. They chose to ignore the fact that what qualified Black Africans to be taken and exploited as slaves by Europeans was their physical strength and ability for hard labour. It is virtually impossible to enslave a lazy person as he/she would turn a burden. If Mr. Trump really said Africans are lazy, he must be referring to the current stuff of Africans who are so intellectually lazy to the effect that they are incapable of exploiting the natural resources of Africa for the good of Africans. Instead, good French, English, Portuguese, and Spanish speaking African intellectuals, both in government and parastatals, serve only as exporters of raw materials from Africa to feed European and American industries. Thus, natural resources poor Europe is rich and industrially developed while natural resources rich Africa is poor and undeveloped economically and industrially. Indeed if we consider the abundance of our human and natural resources, the energy of ordinary African people, and Africa seeming exemption from terrible natural disasters such as earthquakes, hurricanes and typhoons that afflict other continents, Africans are, without doubt, a blessed and fortunate people and all we need to do is to cure African intellectuals of their laziness and total mental dependence on Euro-America for Africa's developmentthe
Africans are only good at lovemaking, Mr. Tump was alleged to have said. But Mr. Tump would not have become an American if not for the reckless lovemaking in Europe that caused overpopulation, hunger and poverty. The second bubonic plague that struck Europe in 1346 reduced the population of Europe by 33% and a century later, child pacing was so short that Europe was overpopulated leading to foreign adventure and seizure of foreign lands. On the contrary, the racist Lugard could still observe in Africa that, "The custom, which seems fairly general among the negro tribes, of suckling a child for two or three years, during which a woman lives apart from her husband, tends to decrease population (p. 66-67, The Dual Mandate in British Tropical Africa, By Lord Lugard)." The sexual discipline among Africans, as observed by Lugard, was so strong that husbands could abstain from sexual intercourse with nursing mothers for two to three years. Europeans like Mr. Tump have always had their fantasies about Blackman's genitalia. Thus Michel Cournot could write in 1948, "Four Negroes with their penises exposed would fill a cathedral. They would be unable to leave the building until their erections had subsided ... (p.169, Black Skin, White Mask, by Frantz Fanon)." Contrary to Michel Cournot, Frantz Fanon wrote on p. 170 thus,"The average length of the penis among the black men of Africa, Dr. Palès says, rarely exceeds 120 millimetres (4.6244 inches). Testut, in his Traité d'anatomie humaine, offers the same figure (120 millimetres length of penis) for Europeans."
Historically, inter-racial sexual relation between Europeans and Africans began in the second half of the 15th century, forcibly initiated by white men against Black women. It is on record that the Portuguese were confessing their rapes on African women on the coast of West Africa to Pope Nicholas V as early as 1455, and he was pardoning them of their sin. Raped African women likened the penis of their Portuguese rappers to that of the horse, probably because they were not circumcised, and their testicles to ripe pineapple. Early during the period of slavery, Calvin C. Hernton wrote in his Sex and Racism, light-skinned Negroes began to appear in the backyards of the great plantation houses of the South. As more and more of these 'mulatto' children began to run around in the backyards, guilt feelings fell upon the white man's conscience. But the white man continued to visit, with increasing frequency, the black cabins. Calvin explained further that during the era of Slavery, white women were inaccessible to black men. On the other hand, all black women were accessible to white men. During this period the white man had as much sex with the black woman of his plantation. Therefore, Calvin observed that in key cities of the South in such States as Louisiana, Alabama, South Carolina, Florida and Georgia, mulattoes fathered by white men constitute a large proportion of the Negro population. Mississippi, where segregation is said to be strictest, has the highest number of mulattoes fathered by white men. Viewed from the above narration, it would be appropriate to say Europeans (white men) are bad at lovemaking.

I watched parts 1& 2 of the second Republican Debate on CNBC - it ended at a.m. Stockholm time was at least relieved that there are some brilliant people out there, in my opinion each of them qualified to be president. Donald Trump the brilliant businessman was so polite – especially towards Uncle Ben the brain surgeon who could not possibly be included in the broad sweep of that headline that "Some Africans are lazy fools only good at eating, lovemaking and Stealing"
At first I thought (a reasonable thought) that Mr. Trump had taken to heart the lyrics of
The Temptations soul hit Papa was a rolling stone:
"Hey Momma!
Is it true what they say that Papa never worked a day, in his life…
I heard Papa called himself a jack of all trades
Tell me is that what sent Papa to an early grave
Folks say Papa would beg, borrow, steal
To pay his bills"
I must apologise – I had only read the headlines which sounded like a plausible enough statement coming from Mr. Trump – and not "factually incorrect" either, but on further investigation ( below the headlines) discovered further absurdities attributed to him, e.g. "I promise to make America great again by restoring our dignity that we have since lost through Obama. The more reason why I still believe that he, and his Kenyan brothers and sisters should be deported back to Kenya to make America safe" – only then did I realise that like Sarah Palin talking to those French Comedians, we had been had - that Mr. Trump even if feeling delirious could never have said that.

What he actually said was "SOME AFRICANS" and I'm 100% certain that Ben Carson the African- American neurosurgeon – unlike Marcus Garvey - has said even more extraordinary things about his own race…
Donald Trump was probably hinting at social welfare parasitism: "Some Africans are lazy fools only good at eating, lovemaking and Stealing"
Now why aim at Africans in particular? What does a presidential hopeful gain by attacking any of the minorities in the US?
I would say that since the centuries of slavery, colonisation and missionary activities such an image of Africans of "the dark continent" still lingers in the popular Western imagination – just like the image of the Mexican - since the days when Texas was part of Mexico - has been projected through American Western movies & Spaghetti Italian Cowboy movies the past 100 years: the sleepy Mexican, his sombrero on, taking umbrage under a leafy tree and we can take it as for granted that when he speaks like this Trumpo is not soliciting any votes from Mexico or Pan-Africano.
Of course it would be politically unwise - indeed suicidal for a candidate for the presidency of any African country to say exactly what Mr. Trump said – since it would not be interpreted as inspiration for even the lazy, hungry, unenterprising Africans - and as to the stealing (corruption) who is there here among us to deny that it's a specialisation of some Africans?
The repair man came to fix the radiator today – they always do soon after the clocks roll back from winter to summer time – and indeed the nuclear winter will soon be here, I can already smell it in the air. I quoted what Mr. Trump said and he smiled (repair-man at least for honesty and politeness' sake was on my side) - asked me whether I would be home tomorrow – and I told him that the house negro is always home – he smiled - and said house negro, as "Mr. Butler" - and I almost told him no, like the Negro in the White House, the house that Ben Carson wants to take over…
Sincerely said,
Cornelius

I do not believe trump uttered such a opinion. I will only believe it when I hear it come out of his mouth. I do not want to believe it because I do not believe that trump can be so dumb to the level of his making such a dumb statement. I do not believe he said it because he also said - he would like Oprah as his running mate. His "the apprentice" show was made into a success by Omarosa - a black lady who was on the first episode of the apprentice.
Trump is crazy but I do not believe he is that crazy as to make such a stupid statement. I actually believe that the statement is the thought of the liberal propagandist by the name of Christine Mendoza who in her attempt to make trump look bad to the black voters is trying to present him in the worst ways possible.

Menu TRUMP: AFRICANS ARE LAZY, ONLY GOOD AT LOVEMAKING AND EATING Posted by other Follow Us By Christine Mendoza Once again, US business magnate Donald Trump has expressed his deep disgust for Africans by referring to them as lazy fools only good at eating, lovemaking and thuggery. Speaking in Indianapolis, Trump who is also the republican Presidential torch bearer reiterated his promise to deport Africans especially those of Kenyan origin including their son Barrack Obama. "African Americans are very lazy. The best they can do is gallivanting around ghettoes, lamenting how they are discriminated. These are the people America doesn't need. They are the enemies of progress. Look at African countries like Kenya for instance, those people are stealing from their own government and go to invest the money in foreign countries. From the government to opposition, they only qualify to be used as a case study whenever bad examples are required. How do you trust even those who have ran away to hide here at the United States hiding behind education? I hear they abuse me in their blogs but I don't care because even the internet they are using is ours and we can decide to switch it off from this side. These are people who import everything including matchsticks. In my opinion, most of these African countries ought to be recolonized again for another 100 years because they know nothing about leadership and self governance" Explained Donald Trump bitterly as he illuminated how he plans to reconstruct America and restore its lost glory. "I promise to make America great again by restoring our dignity that we have since lost through Obama.
