Subject: [NaijaPolitics] RADICALIZED YOUTHS BECOME VICTIMS OF LUCIFER EFFECT - by ABATI
The centripetal forces pulling Nigeria asunder are myriad thus lending credence to the viewpoint that the country's existence as a nation state must have been indeed a gross mistake. Nationhood should be about focusing on assuring the security and well-being of the citizenry and not in contending endlessly with confounding conflicts, insecurity, terrorism and widespread corruption and looting of public funds which are forms of brazen economic sabotage. The wide schism between the Shia and Sunni Muslim sects in the North, not to mention the religious gulf between followers of Christianity and Islam in the area, have put paid to the supposition that the former Northern Region is geopolitically monolithic. Based on the extreme ideological and religious polarization which exists in today's Northern Nigeria, it has now become evident that the North is surely the most destabilized part of the country.
When widespread unemployment and impoverishment are superimposed, the inertia emblemized by the North then becomes such a back-breaking burden that slows down the socioeconomic advancement of the entire country. Here then is the question. Of what use is it to anyone, therefore, to continue to operate a UNITARY form of government for entire Nigeria from one single address in Abuja? Devolution of political power away from the center is what the doctor ordered. The sooner this happens, the better it shall be for all concerned.

It is the story and politics of ISIS and ISIL. This is why it will be wrong to describe the Islamic Movement in Nigeria's constant conflict with the Nigerian state as a confrontation between Nigerian Muslims and the state, to the extent that ISIS or ISIL does not speak for all Muslims just as the ISMIN does not speak for all Nigerian Muslims. ………..read more
