i might have thought that this development philosophy was true when i was younger. i no longer do.
literacy matters much more than the other high-science dreams for advancing a society. and i will accept numeracy as well as literacy.
it is really obvious and true. want to reduce infant mortality? know the best way to do so? make the mothers literate, and the rate drops faster than what will be accomplished by any medical interventions by themselves. anywhere on earth.
