Dear all:
We have received a contract from Pan-African University Press to do an encyclopedia on Yoruba writers. This will be a companion to the Encyclopedia of the Yoruba by Indiana and Handbook of Yoruba Culture and Customs by Carolina.
Do please review the long list below and select ten authors that you can write about. After we have compiled the list of contributors, we will then confirm the allocation to you. Some authors, because they are new, may not have contributors. In this case, do please encourage your graduate students to participate. Also, send this note to your friends, colleagues, and associates, even including to witches that you know of who can lead us to their conclaves!

In this project, a "Yoruba writer" will be taken to signify a scholar of Yoruba origin who has committed his/her scholarship, either in English or in Yoruba, to a creative and fictional representation of the Yoruba culture and tradition. Yoruba writers are those, from the 19th century to date, who have engaged the Yoruba language and culture in creative manners, especially in the forms of poetry, prose, short stories and drama.
It is a volume that will critically and robustly engage the oeuvres of known and unknown Yoruba creative writers from the 19th century to date. The objective of this volume is to bring to light the significance of a creative engagement with the Yoruba culture, history and worldview. When completed, this volume will serve as a ready reference for those interested in the Yoruba literary production.
