Dear all,
We all recognize that Nigeria has been dysfunctional for a long time. There are illegal refineries, there are bunkering outfits, there are various forms of dealers in the oil industry.
My uneducated outlook would have been that this administration needed to have done a proper inventory of what works, what doesn't, and from that determine how to integrate, even after determining levels of punitive reproach, to bring sanity into the system and to ensure that all capacity - legal and otherwise - are frameworked into working, by whatever legal enactments may help.
Drafting the army to destroy illegal (ILLICIT REFINING) capacity, reminiscent of the illicit GIN era, constitutes a policy failure, while at the same time telling Nigerians that the formal capacity will not solve their problems, which were deliberately created and nurtured by years of kleptocracy, seems to be the height of economic imbecility and political insensitivity.
That the State Minister has apologized does one thing. It assuages the sensibilities of Nigerians. But that is where it stops. It does not mean that we have started, as a people, to put the best brains to work to solve Nigeria's problems. The way we all coordinated our intellectual capacity to drive away the locusts from the barn, it is exactly the same way this regime needs to find a way to bring in brains, not political jobbers and umbilically connected parties, to salvage what was left of Nigeria by the PDPigs. Nigerians all over the world help other societies to solve their national problems, why should we all be throwing up our hands in the air, hoping for salvation from "heavenly" bodies?
We are a shameless bunch!

I am extremely happy that Kachikwu has done the right thing, has not listened to his inchoate ethnic supporters or inverterate Jagaban bashers, and now understands that he needs to tweak his socio-political antennas to the frequency of the long-suffering Nigerians.
He should continue at his desk, re-evaluate all the options available to make him successful at his job, continue to smile and never let them see him sweat.
And remember that he is not the Principal, but Buhari.
