As a patron of the Etisalat Prize for Literature, I was recently in Lagos for the award ceremony for the 2015 winner. And I came back convinced that I should share some information about this wonderful initiative. So please read on.
Based in Nigeria, the Etisalat Prize for Literature for 1st time published writers is a handsome £15,000, with no age limitation, and Pan-African. Not only does all this make it the first of its kind, but in the three years of its existence, the Etisalat Prize for Literature has gained popularity and acquired some solid reputation for excellence across Africa, and beyond.
In another breakthrough, the 2015 winning book is an English translation – by Roland Glasser - from the French original of TRAM 83. The Francophone author is Fiston Mwanza Mujila from the DRC. The award ceremony was in Lagos on March 19, 2016.
If you know of any African, male or female of any age, based anywhere whom you know is putting together a book of fiction, please encourage them to finish it, get it published. and enter the book for the prize. For more information, go to Etisalat Prize for Literature on Wikipedia, Facebook, etc,
